Competitive pay and entitlements
At PSR we offer:
- competitive salaries with advancement through pay points for eligible staff
- annual pay rises
- a 15.4% employer contribution to superannuation
- allowances for higher duties, First Aid Officers, Fire Wardens, and Health and Safety Representatives and Harassment Contact Officers

Flexible work
We help our team balance their personal and work life by providing:
- remote work, including working from home some or all of the time
- flexible working arrangements
- time off for additional working hours through flex time and time off in lieu
- part-time working hours
- job-sharing arrangements (where more than one part-time employee share a position or set of duties).
Comprehensive leave entitlements
We provide generous leave conditions, including:
- annual leave — 20 days per year to enjoy
- personal / carers leave — 18 days per year to take care of yourself and your family or dependents
- Christmas close down period – the office is closed between Christmas and New Year giving employees an additional 3 days paid leave
- ability to purchase up to 8 weeks of additional leave per year
- long service leave – LSL is available after reaching 10 years of continuous service. Leave entitlements, including LSL can be taken with you to other APS agencies and ACT state government departments.
- cultural, NAIDOC and First Nations ceremonial leave – this is available to attend significant activities associated with cultural or faith obligations. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees can also access additional ceremonial leave to attend cultural activities or fulfil ceremonial obligations.
- Parental leave – regardless of how long you have been with PSR, primary caregivers are eligible to take up to 18 weeks of paid parentally leave (at full or half pay). Secondary caregivers can take 8 weeks paid leave and this will increase to 18 weeks in 2027.
- Family and domestic violence leave – is available to support our employees during challenging times.
- Blood donations – our employees are able to donate blood during work hours without taking leave.
Wellness initiatives
We encourage our team to stay healthy and be active and support this by providing:
- Employee assistance program providing counselling services to help you and your family members with work or personal issues
- healthy lifestyle contribution up to $299 per annum
- free flu (influenza) vaccinations for staff.
Professional development
To support you in your continued professional development, PSR offers:
- external courses, seminars and conferences
- study assistance, including access to study leave as well as financial assistance
- cultural development, including opportunities to participate in in the Jawun secondment program
- professional membership fees are covered by PSR if they are essential to your role
- APS Academy Courses – access courses through the Australian Public Service Academy
- mandatory training to ensure you have the fundamental knowledge you need to work in the APS.
